Alice Ruhweza is a globally respected, values-based leader with over 28 years of experience shaping policy and driving transformation at the intersection of environmental sustainability, economic development, and social equity. As President of AGRA, she champions agrifood systems transformation for people and the planet, both in Africa and worldwide. A systems thinker and foresight practitioner, Alice connects dots between climate change, sustainable finance, food systems, and inclusive development—especially for youth and women. Her leadership journey spans governments, the UN, the private sector, and major international NGOs across Africa and the United States. She co-chairs the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Nature and Security and serves on advisory and expert groups including the UNCCD Gender Caucus and WEF’s Global Foresight Network. A Senior Fellow with Aspen New Voices and a passionate advocate for gender equity, Alice is known for her collaborative style, policy influence, and commitment to long-term impact. At WAF, Alice will bring her strategic vision, deep-rooted expertise, and global network to amplify African women’s voices, champion youth empowerment, and spark meaningful dialogue on sustainable development, climate resilience, and food system innovation.
